The responsibility of the Fayette County Assessor’s Office is to locate, identify, and set the value of each parcel of real property (with the general exception of schools, churches and charities) in the county. The assessor also creates value assessments for new construction and determines whether any reassessment is in order when a property changes ownership.
Application for Greenbelt Assessment
The Agricultural, Forest and Open Space Land Act of 1976 (“Greenbelt Law”) permits qualifying land to be assessed for property taxes at its use value rather than its fair market value which might be based on a more intensive use.
