Community Emergency Response Team…ARE YOU READY?                             Be Prepared, Not Scared!

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations.

CERT training is a realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens may be initially on their own and their actions can make a positive difference.  Using this training, citizens can manage utilities, put out small fires, treat the three killers (opening airway, control bleeding, and treat for shock),  provide basic medical aid,  search for and rescue victims safely, and organize their efforts to be effective.

Following a major disaster, first responders who provide fire and medical services may not be able to meet the demand for these services. Factors such as number of victims, communication failures, and road blockages will prevent citizens from accessing the emergency services they have come to rely on through 911. Citizens will have to help each other in order to meet  immediate life saving and life sustaining needs.

CERT training is free and is approximately 16 hours, it will be taught on two evenings and a full day Saturday. The next class is Wednesday July 21 (6-9 PM), Thursday July 22 (6-9 PM), & Saturday July 24 (8 AM-4:00 PM), 2021

To register for CERT Classes, please call the local Emergency Management Agency office at 901-465-5239.
